1. Rajiv can do a piece of work in 10 days , Venky in 12 days and Ravi in 15 days. They all start the work together, but Rajiv leaves after 2 days and Venky leaves 3 days before the work is completed. In how many days is the work completed ?
1) 5
2) 6
3) 9
4) 7

Solution:
let days b x
rajiv =1/10(worked for 2days), venky 1/12 (worked for x-3 days) ,ravi 1/15(worked for x days)
so in the form of equation we can write
2/10+(x-3)/12+x/15=1
or
LCM is 60
12+5x-15+4x=60
9x=63
x=7 ans

4. All of these

All of these
Sol:- for these type of question go through the option.
if 5,6,7
6^2=36
5*7=35
36 is greater by 1.
like that all option are match

3. If a = 0.1039, then the value of (4a2 - 4a + 1)1/2 + 3a is:
4a2 – 4a + 1 + 3a = (1)2 + (2a)2 – 2 x 1 x 2a + 3a
= (1 – 2a)2 + 3a
= (1 – 2a) + 3a
= (1 + a)
= (1 + 0.1039)
= 1.1039

4. The ascending order of rational numbers -7/10, 5/-8, 2/-3 is:
-7/10 = -0.7
5/-8 = -0.625
2/-3 = -0.66
so ascending order is -7/10 < 2/-3 < 5/-8

5. A person saves 10% of his income. If his income is increased by 20% and he saves 15% of the new income, by what percent his savings will increase?
let the person income be 100rs.
10% of 100= 10.
new income= 120 ( since 20% increase)
savings 15% of 120= 18.
percentage increase= 18-10/10*100= 80%

6. On a 26 question test, five points were deducted for each wrong answer and eight points were added for each correct answer. If all the questions were answered, how many were correct,
if the score was zero ?
1) 10
2) 12
3) 11
4) 13
ans : 10
total question is 26:
correct answer is 10 s0 10*8=80
wrong answer is 16 so 16*5=80
80-80=0

score is 0

7. A juice container was 4/5 full. Ravinder poured 4 glasses from it and then poured two glasses back. The container is 3/4 full now. How many glasses can be filled if the entire container of juice is emptied?
(a) 32
(b) 36
(c) 44
(d) 40
solution
4/5- 3/4 =1/20
2 glasses can fill 1/20th of juice container so 2*20=40 glasses r required for filling complete juice container

8. In a match awards are given to each of 11 members of the team and a trophy to the team. In all winning team get 2.7kg weight awards. If the weight of match wining trophy is 1.275kg.What is the weight of the award given to each player?
Solution
Match winning trophy+11(weight of each award)=2.7
1.275+11(weight of each award)=2.7
Weight of each award=(2.7-1.275)/11
Weight of each award=0.129545 kg

9. sudha purchased 3 kg potato from market.she used 1/3rd of it in cooking baked potatoes and 1/2 of remaining in mixed vegetable.What quantity of potato is she left with?
a)1.5kg
B)2kg
c)1kg
d)2.5kg

Solution:
Total potato is 3 kg
used in cooking 1/3 of 3 that is 1 kg
remaining potato is 2 kg
then
remaining 1/2 of 2 used in mixed vegetable that is 1 kg used
then finally remain 1 kg.

10. out of every 100 people in police, 10 are women.out of every 100 people in army, 3 are women.in a batch of 180 police personnel and 200 army personnel,how many would them are women?
the answer is there are 24 women in 180 police personnel and 200 army.
Solution:
because out of 100 police there are 10 women means for every 10 police there is 1 women. so 18*10=180. means there are 18 women in 180 police.
out of 100 army there are 3 women. so out of 200 army, there will be 6 women.
finally, 18+6=24.

11. The number obtained by interchanging the two digits of a two-digit number is
more than the original number by 27. If the sum of the two digits is 13, what is the
original number?
1) 63
2) 74
3) 85
4) 58
5) None of these

Solution:
Lets say the 2 digit number is xy
tens digit is x and units is y
based on given condition
10y+x=10x+y+27 --> (1)
x+y=13 -->(2)
On Solving 1 and 2
x=5 y=8
number is 58.

12. The sum of five consecutive even numbers is 200. What is the sum of the next
set of the consecutive even numbers?
1)215
2)235
3) 240
4) 250
5) None of these

Explanation:
Suppose first Number x, so five consecutive even no. will be as , x,x+2,x+4,x+6,x+8;
so => x+(x+2)+(x+4)+(x+6)+(x+8)=200 ;
5x+20=200 => x=36;
So first five consecutive even no. will be 36,38,40,42,44 & Next will be 46,48,50,52,54 & 46+48+50+52+54=250.

13. The number obtained by interchanging the two digits of a two-digit number is more than the original number by 27. If the sum of the two digits is 13, what is the original number?
1) 63
2) 74
3) 85
4) 58
5) None of these
Solution:
Let number be x and
It is two digit number.
85 and 58 sum of digits is 13 only
85-27=58
58-27=31(not in options)
So 58 option 4 is correct.

14. product of two successive numbers is 4692. Which is the smaller of the two numbers?
1)69
2)62
3)68
4)67
Solution:
68. given number last digit is 2. fm the options if we compare, 68*69 , 9*8 is 72 . we will get 2 only by multiplying 9 and 8.

15.To fill a storage tank of wheat ,20 containers full of wheat are required.how many containers of wheat will be required to fill same tank.if the capacity of tank is reduced to two-fifth of their present capacity??
1)25
2)30
3)60
4)50
Solution:
total cap rat=1;
reduce to 2/5;
remain cap is 1-2/5=3/5;
3/5*20=12;
therefore pre cap is 12;
12/20*100=60%

16. A car engine is half filled and holds 15lt of petrol.what fraction of the engine is full if it contains 18 lt of petrol?
Solution:

x= 30 ltrs
18/30= 3/5

17. I read 3/8 of the book on one day and 4/5 of the remainder on another day.If now there were 30pages unread,the book contain
option:
a) 240
b) 230
c) 340
d) 140
Solution:
3x/8+4x/8=x-30
x=240

18. Three consecutive whole numbers are such that the square of the middle number is greater than the
product of the other two by 1. Find the middle number.
a) 6
b) 18
c) 12
d) All of these
Solution:
let three nos. be x-1, x, x+1
now, product of other two than middle is (x^2-1)
and sq. of middle is x^2
so according to Q. x^2=(x^2-1)+1
=>x=x(any no.)
so ans will be "All of these"

19. In a poultry 50 hen give 200 egg in 7 day. how many day 20 hen will give 400 eggs
a) 15
b) 10
c) 20
d) 8
Solution:
50 hens -- 200 eggs ---2 days
50 hens -- 100 eggs ---1 day
1 hen -- 2 eggs --- 1 day
20 hens -- 40 eggs --- 1 day
So 20 hens can lay 40 eggs in 1 day
